Orestes Ferrara and his Hero

General Maximo Gomez was Colonel Orestes Ferrara's hero since the days when Orestes was studying law at the University of Naples, Italy in 1895.

Maximo Gomez was from the Dominican Republic.

Jose Marti went to the Dominican Republic and asked General Maximo Gomez to lead the military war against the Spanish Colony in Cuba.

Orestes & Maximo, two foreigners who went to fight for the liberty and independence of a country that was not theirs.

These two great men won a prominent place in the fight for freedom by putting their lives on the line.and becoming an integral part of Cuban history.
